Egan Houseboat Rentals, located in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes, has the largest fleet in Ontario. Our smaller style houseboats are designed to host 1-3 couples or 1-2 small families; book with a group of friends or make it a memorable family getaway.

For every challenge 2020 brought with it, there has been a positive outcome. 

First, we at Egan would like to thank all of our valued guests for their patience and continued loyalty through all of the changes made. After a very uncertain start last spring, things really hit the ground running in early June. Our staff could barely keep up, getting all the equipment ready and making adjustments to every operation to ensure the protection of our staff and guests, and all in less than half the time of a typical year.

Adhering to the guidelines set out by Health Canada meant overhauling many of our previous protocols. We introduced an online training program; these comprehensive videos allowed crucial information to be accessible prior to arrival, as well as revisited throughout the trip as needed. While this was a large undertaking in such a short timeframe, it has drastically reduced our boarding times and resulted in our guests feeling more comfortable and confident in the operation of our houseboats and the rules of the waterways. 

We saw many new faces discover the magic of houseboating this past season, in search of something outside the box which would maintain social distancing. 

We have been working hard this off season tackling some more interior updates to our houseboats and we can’t wait to share them with all of our guests this coming season!
