Lakefield Youth Unlimited Has a New Home!

Lakefield Youth Unlimited (LYU) is excited to announce that we have purchased the Tribal Voices building, which is directly off the bridge in Lakefield. This has been possible due to an anonymous lender who provided a no interest, no payments loan for as long as we own the building. The closing date was in June and we will move into our new facility in mid-September.

LYU has been part of the Lakefield community for 15 years, working together with local residents, businesses, churches, schools, and government for the youth of our community. Through various programs and events our vision is to see the lives of youth in Lakefield attain their full life potential as God designed it. We currently offer a Jr. High Gym Night, provide employment and mentoring to several youth in our LYU Garden Project, help host Kindness Club and Ping Pong Club at our local elementary school, and offer school support in classrooms. We also have community partners with whom we facilitate yearly Free Income Tax Clinics, the Christmas Gift Card Drive and the Community Easter Blessing.

There are many possibilities as to how our new building will be used. Some ideas that could happen in the space are shared meeting rooms, life skill programs for youth, Jr. and Sr. High programs, gathering spaces for families and after-school programming – just to name a few!

Most of the funds were provided for the purchase of our new home however we still need to raise $20,000 by August 14, 2019 to pay off the remainder of short-term loans, plus an additional$55,000 by October 1, 2019 to begin our renovations in the fall. Please consider helping us meet this financial need.
