Discovery Kids Camps at the Peterborough Museum & Archive

The Peterborough Museum & Archives (PMA) has over 30 years’ experience providing quality children’s programming for families in the Peterborough community. Some of our earliest campers, now parents, send their own children to the camps they once loved. The PMA offers a variety of educational and fun camps year-round during most school breaks including: Summer Discovery Camps, March Break, P.A. Days, and over the winter holiday. Themes are selected with kids’ interests in mind – striving to cover topics that will keep our campers excited and engaged, our programming is interactive, well-paced and age appropriate. We want to create an unforgettable experience that will foster a love of creative learning to last a lifetime.

Located within Ashburnham Memorial Park, atop Armour Hill, the PMA is just steps from the world-famous Peterborough Lift Lock and the Trent-Severn Waterway. On the museum grounds, there are several walking trails, a playground, pavilion, and a beautiful view of the city. This natural setting is the perfect location for children to play in and explore.

In addition to camp offered during school breaks, the PMA also offers “Kids Only – Discovery After Dark” which is an opportunity for children ages 6 to 11 to experience the museum after-hours, while the exhibits are under dimmed lights and free of visitors. This unique camp program is also an excellent excuse for parents to enjoy a date night (or simply some down-time free of kids) as it is offered during select Saturday evenings – typically once per month.

Perhaps you work with or volunteer for a children’s community group. The PMA will also customize programming for your group during most evenings and weekends. There is an excellent multi-purpose classroom that can be used for meetings, followed by guided tours of our galleries, crafts, games, team-building, or anything else your group might need.
